The information below will help you enjoy participating in our auctions
VIEWING
The catalogue contains a Lot no, Description and Estimate for each lot. The description is for guidance only and as some items are of an age or nature that means they may not be in perfect condition, we advise you to examine items yourself before the auction starts.
Viewing times are shown on the front of the catalogue. All items are offered for sale as viewed and are sold as seen. The auctioneer does not take responsibility for origin or estimated price. All items are sold without any warranty or claim as
to its suitability or fitness for its apparent purpose so as a prospective Buyer,
you should use your judgement. All electrical items are sold on the express condition that the winner ensures they are examined by a competent electrician before connecting them to any source of electricity. All sales are final and no refunds are given.
BIDDING
Once registered (free of charge) your bidding number is on the paddle supplied, please keep it safe. To bid on an item, simply hold up your paddle to catch the attention of the Auctioneer. He will indicate who is leading the bidding for the
item. The Auctioneer has complete discretion as to the increments/amounts by which bidding increases.
RESERVE PRICES
Some items have a reserve price. Where necessary, the Auctioneer will protect the reserve on an item and use his discretion up to 10%. If this price is not reached, the Auctioneer will record the item as unsold and move on to the next item.
THE BUYER
The highest bidder as determined by the Auctioneer is the Buyer. He will ask for the Buyer’s bidding number, to record who secured the bid. The Auctioneer has absolute discretion to settle any dispute that may arise and to refuse bids or to advance the bidding as seen fit. His decision is final.
THE BUYER’S PREMIUM
This is the commission paid to the auctioneer by the Buyer over and above the highest bid value (often referred to as the Hammer Price) of each item. OUR BUYER’S PREMIUM IS 15% + VAT. So if you are the highest bidder
on an item with a £10 bid, the total cost to you is £11.80. Please take this
into account when bidding.
ONLINE BIDDING
We offer an online bidding service via the-saleroom.com for bidders who
cannot attend the sale. In completing the bidder registration on
www.the-saleroom.com/busheyauctions and providing your credit/debit card
details, you authorise Bushey Auctions to charge the card given in full payment including all fees, for items successfully purchased in the auction via
the-saleroom.com. You also confirm that you are authorised to provide these credit/debit card details to Bushey Auctions through the-saleroom.com and agree that Bushey Auctions are entitled to ship the goods to the card holder name and card holder address provided in fulfilment of the sale.
Please note that any lots purchased via the-saleroom.com live auction service
will be subject to an additional 3% + VAT commission charge imposed on the hammer price in addition to the Buyers Premium of 15% + VAT. Our credit card surcharge is 4%.
PAYMENT
You are welcome to pay by cash, cheque accompanied by a cheque guarantee
card sufficient to cover the total cost of your purchase(s), electronic bank transfer, or by debit/credit card (credit cards are subject to 4% surcharge).
As the Buyer, you only take ownership of the item once full payment is made
(in the case of cheque payment, this is not until the cheque has cleared). We reserve the right to hold on to items paid for by cheque until the cheque has cleared. Please note, once the Auctioneer has determined yours to be the winning bid, a legal contract is created and you are obliged to pay for the item. If a Bidder fails to pay for an item, the Auctioneer reserves the right to cancel the sale and
re-sell the item(s) won. The Auctioneer can also proceed against the Buyer for breach of contract. So please only bid up to the amount you are prepared to pay and make sure you allow for the 15% Buyer’s Premium.
TAKING YOUR ITEM HOME
You may pay and collect your items whilst the auction is in progress provided that the items can be moved without disruption. Please hand your stamped receipt to
a Porter who will collect and help you pack your items. Please pay for and collect your items within an hour of the close of the Auction. We can offer storage @ £5 per day per item (subject to availability) or if you need transport Man with a Van details are at the back of the Catalogue and displayed in the Auction room.
IF YOU CAN’T MAKE THE AUCTION, WE CAN BID FOR YOU
If you would like to bid for an item, but can’t be here when it is auctioned, we are happy to bid on your behalf. Simply register for a bidding number with us, if you have not already done so, then complete the Absentee/Commission bidding form, stating the maximum you are prepared to bid. You can also bid over the telephone for lots estimated over £50, or in advance by e-mail, please ask for details.
We will then bid for you, up to your maximum, attempting to secure the item at
the lowest required to beat all other bids.We may require deposit of 50% of your maximum bid. After the auction, we will contact you to advise you of the outcome. If you secure the lot, we will arrange collection with you and sort out any balance of payment
SHIPPING
If placing a commission bid or bidding by telephone for an item that will you will require shipping, please ask us in advance of bidding for the cost of packing & shipping. This cost will be at your expense. Please note that we only arrange shipping of smaller items that can be handled by standard courier. We do not arrange shipping of larger items such as furniture, though you are welcome to arrange collection. Please check with us in advance of bidding.
SELLING WITH BUSHEY AUCTIONS
A commission charge of 17.5% of the hammer price will be deducted from the selling price (min. £5 per lot) PLUS VAT on the commission.
Reserve prices may be placed on items over £50. If the item does not sell an administration charge of 10% of the bottom estimate will be incurred.
The estimated selling prices are for guidance only and should not be regarded
as the true guide to the actual sale price realised.
Where lots are entered without a reserve, the lot may be sold to the highest bidder, whatever that price is. Lots sold with discretionary reserves may be
sold at 10% below the bottom estimate.
In the event a lot is withdrawn prior to sale, a charge of £25 or 5% of the
lower estimate (whichever the greater) will be levied.
Collection of furniture by Bushey Auctions will incur a minimum charge of £35.
Bushey Auctions reserve the right to move items to a later auction where necessary.
The vendor warrants to Bushey Auctions that he/she is the true owner of the property (or has written authorisation from the true owner to sell the items)
and has given Bushey Auctions full disclosure of the provenance and authenticity
of the items entered.
The vendor may collect unsold items from the auction venue one hour after the auction has ended after obtaining a confirmation receipt from the admin desk.
Lots not collected after the auction are to be collected from the storeroom by appointment. Unless by prior agreement, any unsold lots not collected within
7 days of the date of sale will incur a storage charge of £5 per day. Lots not collected after 3 months will be sold to defray expenses, the proceeds will go wholly to Bushey Auctions.
Unsold or withdrawn lots will not be released until all outstanding charges have been settled in full. Unsold items may be entered into a future auction at the auctioneer’s discretion without reserve.
Any offers for lots after auction are only to be negotiated through the directors of Bushey Auctions and any sale thereafter to Bushey Auctions customers, or which have been viewed through Bushey Auctions catalogues, viewing days, advertising and internet sites are deemed to be sold by Bushey Auctions and full vendors and buyers commissions are payable by the vendor.
A cheque (or BACS transfer) for the proceeds of the sale less all applicable charges will be mailed to the seller within 28 days after the auction date - provided that Bushey Auctions has received full payment from the purchaser.
In the event of any disputes, Bushey Auctions reserves the right to cancel the
sale and return the item to the vendor. The vendor will be responsible for any costs incurred.
Please note that goods entered into our sale are done so at your own risk and that you accept that Bushey Auctions are not liable for any damage or loss to your items while in our possession.
